Uniform Policy

Updated March 2026

Importance of the Uniform

At Zoe International School, we believe appearance reflects both respect for oneself and consideration for others. Our uniform helps us make a positive impression inside and outside the school community, while also promoting an environment focused on learning.

By enrolling at Zoe International School, parents and students agree to uphold the school’s standards for appropriate dress, as interpreted by the Administration.

A school uniform also encourages a sense of belonging, pride, and purpose.

Note: Details of this policy may be revised as the school grows and develops.

General Dress Code Policy

The Uniform Dress Code Policy applies when a student is:

  • On campus for classes or school events (as participants or spectators).

  • Off campus representing the school at functions such as field trips, concerts, or games.

Requirements

  • The official Zoe International School Uniform (outlined in the Student Handbook) must be worn every day.

  • The PE uniform must be worn on scheduled PE days.

  • Outdoor shoes must be changed to indoor shoes upon entry to the Shoe Room.

  • Clothing must cover at all times: buttocks, mid-chest, midriff, and undergarments.

  • Any see-through/mesh garments must have appropriate coverage underneath.

  • Skirts and shorts must be fingertip length (approx. 10–15 cm above the knee). Final decisions on length rest with the Principal.

  • Rips/tears in pants or skirts must be repaired to maintain neatness.

  • Footwear is required at all times.

Not Permitted

  • Clothing that exposes undergarments, promotes violence, or includes discriminatory/offensive images or language.

  • Dirty, torn, or poorly maintained clothing.

  • Leggings without a proper cover (leggings may only be worn under shorts or skirts of appropriate length).

  • Hairstyles, body accessories, or clothing that distract, intimidate, or leave a negative impression on students, guests, or the wider Japanese community.

Violations will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Students may be asked to change into appropriate clothing at school.
