ELEMENTARY
Grades 1-6
At Zoe International School, our Elementary program is built upon a strong foundation in core academics, ensuring students develop essential skills in literacy, numeracy, scientific understanding, and global awareness.
Students in Grades 1–6 engage in five primary academic subjects:
- English
- Mathematics
- Science
- Social Studies
- Japanese Language
In addition to their core studies, students participate in our STEAM program (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics), which provides hands-on, project-based opportunities to apply learning in creative and practical ways.
All subjects are teacher-led and classroom-based, combining direct instruction, guided practice, collaborative learning, and structured assessments to support steady academic growth.
Core Academic Curriculum (Grades 1–6)
Students follow U.S. Common Core–aligned standards in English and Mathematics, alongside comprehensive instruction in Science and Social Studies.
Our approach includes:
- Clear, structured teacher instruction
- Hands-on and paper-based learning
- Group discussion and critical thinking
- Ongoing assessment and individualized feedback
Beginning in Grade 4, students gradually incorporate digital curriculum materials to strengthen research skills, technical fluency, and academic responsibility — while maintaining a teacher-directed learning environment.
Teachers carefully monitor student progress and provide targeted support to help every child achieve academic excellence.
Japanese Language & Cultural Understanding
As a school located in Japan, Japanese language study is a vital part of our core curriculum.
Students follow a Japanese curriculum aligned with JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) levels, systematically developing reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar, and communication skills. This structured progression allows students to advance through recognized proficiency benchmarks while deepening their understanding of Japanese culture.
