Discipline Policy

Introduction
Discipline at Zoe International School exists to support a safe, respectful, and God-honoring learning environment. We believe discipline should teach responsibility, develop self-control, and guide students toward living according to biblical values.
Level 1 – Minor Violations
Examples of behaviors (may result in verbal/written warnings or detention):
- Sleeping during class or not paying attention to teachers or administration when spoken to.
- Talking without permission, disrupting the teacher, and disturbing class.
- Misbehaving while representing the school in uniform (e.g., on public transport).
- Submitting homework late (teacher’s discretion).
- Returning late after lunch or field trips.
- Going to shops or places without permission during school hours.
- Chewing gum/eating candy during class.
- Spreading rumors, lies, or gossip about students, staff, or families.
- Disrespecting other students or adults (including staff or parents).
- Pretending to “fight” (punching, kicking, or mock fighting).
Level 2 – Serious Violations
Luke 16:10 — “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.”
Level 2 actions typically result in lunch detention (solitary lunch) or after school detention with the Principal (duration determined by the Principal and Board). Suspension may apply for repeated or severe offenses.
Cheating and plagiarism may be escalated to Level 3, with consequences determined by the Board.
Lying
- Making false statements, accusations or excuses.
- Giving false explanations for absence/tardiness.
- Pretending not to know or understand when questioned.
- Claiming another’s work as your own.
Stealing
- Taking/borrowing items without permission.
- Failing to return borrowed items.
- Not reporting found property to the office.
- Taking academic materials without permission.
Breaking Property
- Deliberately damaging your own belongings, others’ belongings, or school property (on campus or during trips).
Cheating
- Submitting someone else’s work as your own.
- Copying from students who took the test previously.
- Collaborating on individual assignments.
- Using calculators when prohibited.
- Looking at others’ tests/quizzes.
- Having cheat notes or other tabs open on computer or tablet during tests or quizzes.
Plagiarism
- Copying information without proper citation.
- Rewriting another student’s work.
- Submitting work with 20% or more similarity to another text.
Inappropriate Language/Behavior
- Swearing or using inappropriate words.
- Disrespectful behavior toward peers or teachers.
- Yelling or emotional outbursts at staff.
- Repeated misbehavior after warnings.
- Using God’s name in vain.
Level 3 – Major Violations
Level 3 actions may result in suspension or expulsion. Duration and consequences are determined by the Principal and Board.
Examples of Level 3 behaviors:
- Use or possession of alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, or prescription medicine without authorization.
- Inappropriate or sexually suggestive words, behaviors, or gestures.
- Threatening language toward students, teachers, or administrators.
- Insulting or blaspheming God.
- Fake bomb or death threats.
- Viewing pornographic material.
- Possessing dangerous items or weapons (e.g., knives, air guns).
Consequences
Depending on the level and severity, disciplinary action may include:
- Verbal warning.
- Redirection (teacher’s discretion).
- Written warning/Principal’s office referral.
- After-school detention & parent conference.
- Suspension & parent conference.
- Expulsion.
