Joshua O'Sullivan
Founder & School Director
With his background in business, education, and Church communities, Joshua founded Zoe International School in 2021 in response to the growing need for an affordable, quality international in Yokohama.
He and his wife Yuki live in the Gold Coast in Australia with their 5 children and commute between Australia and Japan.

Sarah Madhavan
Elementary Teacher
Sarah is from the United States of America. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education and learning disabilities from Spring Arbor University and her Masters in Education in Literacy with a focus in English as a Second Language from Clemson University. She has experience working as an elementary school teacher of students with exceptionalities, as an English as a Second Language teacher, and as a literacy specialist. She loves being a part of her church family, doing anything outdoors, and drinking lots of coffee to keep up with her students. She is passionate about making sure every student’s gifts are developed and celebrated.

Shelly McClain
Elementary Teacher & School Nurse
Shelly holds her certification as a surgical technician and has many years experience working in health.

Rina Tamakoshi
Elementary Teacher
Rina is from Japan and is a graduate of the international school system, graduating from International Christian University with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Language Education and a Master of Arts in Education. She has experience teaching English to students of various ages, from young children to high school students. She loves eating donuts, going to a nice cafe, and spending time with her family and church family. It excites her whenever she sees someone discover their strengths, and she is passionate about letting students know that they are special and loved for who God created them to be.

Edwin Portillo
Middle & High School Teacher
Edwin is from El Salvador in Central America. He received his Teaching degree with focus on English Teaching Methodologies from the University of El Salvador and his TESOL certification from Arizona State University. He has experience as an English as a Foreign Language teacher at K-12 schools in both El Salvador and Japan. Edwin enjoys practicing outdoor sports and is a keen videography enthusiast. He also loves to get involved in his local church and community service. He is inspired by seeing students fully develop their potential and taking their creativity and knowledge to the next level.

Kies Kiteah
Middle & High School Math Teacher
Kies is from Liberia and has a Bachelor of Science.
He is currently studying Engineering as a graduate student at the Tokyo Institute of Technology.

Hana also has a TESOL teaching certificate and assists with bilingual learners.
